Noviq

Noviq gives Ethiopian secondary school students access to an AI tutor that understands local curriculum, speaks their language, and works offline. Built on Llama 4 via Groq, with on-device inference planned for low-connectivity environments.

Noviq was born from a simple observation: the best AI tutors in the world are useless if they don't understand the Ethiopian curriculum, can't speak Amharic, and require a stable internet connection.

We built Noviq to solve all three. The model is fine-tuned on the Ethiopian Grade 9–12 national curriculum across all major subjects. It can explain concepts in Amharic, English, or a mix of both. And because inference runs via Groq's ultra-low-latency API with on-device fallback planned, students can get answers even when connectivity is intermittent.

The product is live and being used by students across Addis Ababa. The next frontier is full offline capability via a distilled 2B parameter model running directly on mid-range Android devices.
